Jimkata Releases ‘Ten More Songs!” Live Album

From Jimkata.com
“Jimkata has released their first official live album, ’10 More Songs!’, which documents the long miles and countless hours spent honing newer compositions and reworking old favorites. The album features 14 tracks recorded in 2012/2013 at many of their favorite New York venues, paying homage to their home state. 10 More Songs! chronicles the band’s evolution across their four studio albums from ‘07s fast-tempoed “Mind Crossing” to the dub-tinged “Greyhound” and sing-along fan favorites, “Chain Store” and “Night Shade” off Die Digital, as well as the unrecorded track “Soap”. The album is available NOW on iTunes at http://bit.ly/HNn003 and Spotify.

The four-piece is also back in the studio with Die Digital producer Jocko Randall to record the follow-up EP, “Feel In Light,’ due out in early 2014.

Mixed by Phil Salvaggio at 7 Mile High Studios
Mastered by Jocko at More Sound Recording Studio in Syracuse, NY

Here Come The Mundies by Matt Heredos

    Words by Matt Heredos

If the start of 2013 is any indication of what this band will do this year, we might be in for the year of The Mundies. The four members of The Mundies: Kris Fricks on guitar and vocals, Nick Johnson on bass, Dexter White on keyboards and vocals, and Phillip Fricks on drums, have been on the rise for a while now in the Bloomington and now Indianapolis music scenes.

On March 16th, The Mundies returned to one of the staple venues of the Indy music scene, the Mousetrap in Broad Ripple. On this night they participated in a battle of the bands along with other acts: Tonal Caravan, Flatland Harmony Experience, Shaggy Wonda, and MC Sparkplug. However, on this night the fans in attendance voted The Mundies as the best performers and what did this get them? Just a slot to perform at one of the longest running and most successful music festivals of the Midwest: Summer Camp! To be on the same festival bill as bands such as Moe, Umphrey’s Mcgee, and the Trey Anastasio Band, is quite a breakthrough for any band. As if playing at Summer Camp wasn’t enough, The Mundies are also releasing their debut album Twist and Tear during their show at the Mousetrap this Friday, April 5th.

    The Mundies 2013 Summer Dates

4/5/13 – The Mousetrap (Twist and Tear album release show)
4/19/13 – Beale Street Live Indy
4/20/13 – The Monkey’s Tale (Sponsored by The Magic Bus)
5/24/13 – 5/26/13 – Summer Camp Music and Arts Festival (Chillicothe, IL)
6/7/13 – 6/9/13 – Good People, Good Times Music Festival (Nashville, IN)
9/5/13 – 9/7/13 – Hyperion Music and Arts Festival (Spencer, IN)

Alan Evans Trio Releases New Album ‘Merkaba’

    From AlanEvansTrio.com
“The funk and soul band Alan Evans Trio, featuring legendary drummer Alan Evans of Soulive, releases their highly anticipated follow-up album, Merkaba, which is due to impact Earth on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Following the release, the Alan Evans Trio will kick off their national tour, with a 20+ date run with stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, and a performance at the all-inclusive VIP music event Rock n Roll Resort, taking place April 12 – 14 in the Catskills of New York.

The perfect road trip album for the everyday space traveler, Merkaba will take listeners on a cosmic funk adventure. With spacey Hammond organ overlays provided by the energetically charged Beau Sasser (Melvin Sparks Band, Akashic Record), zero-gravity guitar riffs by guitar virtuoso Danny Mayer (On the Spot Trio) and the rocket powered beats of legendary drummer Alan Evans (founding member of Soulive), the Alan Evans Trio follow up album to their critically-acclaimed Drop Hop, invites listeners to experience an interstellar musical voyage that is as deep as space itself.

Produced, recorded, and mixed by Alan Evans himself, Merkaba showcases Evans’ musical genius, as he contributed musically to nearly every instrument on the album. Additionally, Merkaba features special guest traveler and luminary hip hop guitarist, Mike Feingold (Jay-Z, Erykah Badu), on banjo, guitar, and keyboard.

“I can’t wait for everyone and anyone to hear this album. This album is all of me. This album is for the loves of my life and there are songs on here that I never thought would see the light of day, but the alignment of the universe made the timing just perfect,” says Evans of the new Merkaba.

An interstellar transmission of Alan Evans Trio’s signature sound, Merkaba aspires to be that head-bobbing, funkadelic soundtrack for Earthlings everywhere.

The new release Merkaba will be available on CD, vinyl, and in digital in select retail outlets around the globe, and the neighboring solar systems. For digital tunes fans will be able to purchase Merkaba on iTunes at: Merkaba.”

Video ~ Digital Tape Machine Launches Kickstarter for Debut Album “Be Here Now”

    From Digital Tape Machine

“Digital Tape Machine is putting out a killer new album of original material called Be Here Now, but we can’t do it without you. In 2010 this project started in the heart of a recording studio. We created some unique songs that had a video game sound. After establishing a small catalog of music the studio project took the stage & hasn’t looked back. Playing in front of thousands of fans across the U.S., there is now one thing that can’t be avoided: we want to release an album for our fans to hear. Over the past few years, we’ve decided to record the album we want to, write the songs we want to & achieve the sound that makes Digital Tape Machine such a unique beast.”
