Announcing Dead and Company Halloween 2015 at MSG

Dead and Company 2015

From Dead & Company
“The news is out, all over town… Mickey, Bill, and Bob have joined forces with Grammy Winning singer/guitarist John Mayer to form the band Dead and Company. The band will take the stage at the legendary Madison Square Garden on Halloween night, October 31, 2015 and will perform two sets of music drawing largely from the Dead’s historic catalog of songs.

The Fare Thee Well shows were a record-setting success, and ignited enthusiasm for more concerts featuring Grateful Dead members. “There is a place where music, dreams and magic come together,” said Hart. “Grateful Dead music is a portal to that place. It was built to last!”

“Fare Thee Well proved to me that I’m not done exploring new rhythmic territory with Mickey – I’m recommending that everyone puts their helmet on, because we are going to blast our way into some serious drums and space,” said Kreutzmann. “And with Mayer riding shotgun with Weir – we’re in good company, so to speak.”

Mayer will join Hart, Kreutzmann and Weir, along with Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. “I deeply love the Dead’s music, and it has inspired me in ways I never imagined. To help carry this music is the opportunity and the honor of a lifetime,” Mayer said.

“We’re not done with these songs and they’re not done with us,” said Weir. “We’re gonna take these old friends on some new adventures.”

Tickets will go on-sale to the general public Friday, August 14th at 10am ET. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Monday, August 10th at 10am local through Thursday, August 13th at 10pm local. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com. Top tier tickets will be priced under $100, and a number of $50 tickets will be made available in honor of the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary.”

Ultraviolet Hippopotamus Hippoween 2014

Hippoween 2014From UVHippoMusic.com
“After our shows on Halloween night and the first weekend of December, we will be taking our first break ever from touring and performing on the stage. In case you missed our announcement a few months back, we will taking an indefinite break starting this winter. We have no time table in mind or determined length of a break, but will definitely be making a return when we are ready. With that in mind, these three shows will be the last times to catch us for a while.

Halloween night we will be making our first appearance at The State Theatre in Kalamazoo, MI. Joining us on the stage for the night will be a horn section led by Funktion’s Terrance Massey. Opening up the show will be the fellow Grand Rapids folk band, The Crane Wives. Also entertaining the crowd for a while will be the most rocking blues band we’ve ever played with, Andy Frasco and the U.N. from Los Angelas, CA. Many of our fans have been discussing and planning on dressing up as a Hippo song or a theme from one of our songs. We fully endorse and encourage our all people attending this show to follow suit since this is totally awesome. If you don’t want to dress up as a UV Hippo theme, just dress up anyways, it is Halloween night!

The first weekend of December we are playing Friday night in Grand Rapids at The Intersection and Indianapolis at The Vogue the following day. Both nights will be An Evening with meaning everyone that attends will be getting three full sets of Hippo each night! Both of these cities and both of these shows mean a lot to us. It is the culmination of 10 years of non stop work and 6 years of non stop touring. We would love to see all of your beautiful faces at both of them dancing in front of us. Make a weekend of it!”

Upcoming Shows
10/31/14: Hippoween 2014 State Theatre in Kalamazoo,MI – TICKETS
12/5/14: The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI – TICKETS

About the Band: New Monsoon

From NewMonsoon.com
“San Francisco rock quintet New Monsoon is the collaborative vehicle for the vocal and instrumental prowess of founding members Bo Carper (acoustic guitar and banjo), Jeff Miller (electric guitar) and Phil Ferlino (keys). Now well into its second decade of national touring, the band also features the muscular rhythm section of Marshall Harrell (electric bass) and Michael Pinkham (drums).

New Monsoon’s exhilarating blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation shines in an irresistible blend of sophisticated song craft, inventive musical exploration and down home rock-n-roll. “They have a collective power that comes off as a real unified force on stage. It’s not just a band, you know? It’s something transcendental.” – Michael Shrieve (original drummer, Santana)

New Monsoon has shared the stage with heavyweight guests Mike Stern, the late, great Martin Fierro (Zero, Legion of Mary), Steve Kimock, and Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), to name a few. They’ve toured with String Cheese Incident, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Umphrey’s McGee (Big Summer Classic Tour), supported Moe, The Wailers, etc. and are a featured headliner in venues such as the Fillmore (SF), Gothic Theater (Denver), and the Warehouse (Houston). They are also a perennial favorite of the festival circuit including marquee festivals like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Langerado, High Sierra, Telluride Bluegrass, Austin City Limits and many others.

The band’s quality associations continue with their recorded output. 2007’s V was produced by Grateful Dead sound engineer John Cutler, and 2005’s The Sound was helmed by original Santana percussionist Michael Shrieve and Paul Kimble (Grant Lee Buffalo, Luna). The latest album, New Monsoon Live, a double-cd set, features tunes from all eras of the band’s deep catalog.

Miller and Ferlino have also recently formed a supergroup collective, The Contribution, along with Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth) Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident) Matt Butler (Everyone Orchestra) and Sheryl Renee (Black Swan Singers). SCI Fidelity Records released Which Way World, The Contribution’s inaugural album, in 2010. Miller released his first solo album, Ancient Wisdom, in 2011. Carper performs as a solo act and as half of the duo, Bo & Lebo, with Dan Lebowitz of ALO.”
