Dumpstaphunk Presents A Throwback Phunksgiving 1970’s Tribute Set 11.26.14

Phunksgiving 2014

From Dumpstaphunk

“Live For Live Music and Equifunk present “A Throwback Phunksgiving” evening with Dumpstaphunk featuring a special 1970’s tribute set with special guests Eric Krasno (Lettuce/Soulive), Todd Stoops (Kung Fu), Brandon “Taz,” and DJ Quickie Mart at BB King’s Blues Club on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 at 9:00pm. The band will perform renditions of Led Zeppelin, The Meters, Parliament Funkadelic and Sly & The Family Stone and music from the 70’s.

Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever arise from the Crescent City. Born on the Jazz & Heritage Festival stage, and descended from Neville family bloodlines, these soldiers of funk ignite a deep, gritty groove that dares listeners not to move. Their performances combine ingenious musicianship and complex funk and jazz arrangements with soulful melodies that are simple enough for anyone to enjoy.

In Big Easy tradition, dueling basslines from Tony Hall and Nick Daniels III set off one of the dirtiest rhythm sections on the planet, while Ivan Neville lights up the Hammond B3 keys and cousin Ian Neville’s funky guitar riffs send the groove into overdrive. They toss around lead vocals and four-part harmonies the way Sly & the Family Stone did, but with three studio albums under their belt, Dumpstaphunk stands on the merit of their own material. Songs like “Dancin’ To The Truth” off their latest record, Dirty Word (July 30, 2013, Louisiana Red Hot Records), offer an escape into the funky sublime, sharing the true spirit of New Orleans with every note.”

Leftover Salmon Announces 2012 Thanksgiving Shows at the Boulder Theater

From LeftoverSalmon.com

“Leftover Salmon is happy to announce a two night run at the Boulder Theater on Friday and Saturday, November 23rd-24th to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend! NPR’s Mountain Stage heralded Colorado’s Leftover Salmon as “one of the most beloved acts on America’s summer-festival circuit” as they’ve returned from an eight year hiatus touring with their new album Aquatic Hitchhiker (released May 22nd on LoS Records). Exploring new new sonic territory, AOL’s The Boot listed Aquatic Hitchhiker as one of the best Americana albums of this year.

Members of the Leftover Salmon fan-club can purchase advance tickets for the Thanksgiving shows on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10am MST through Leftover Tickets. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, September 14th at 10am MST through BoulderTheater.com and at the Boulder Theater box office.

There ain’t no place they’d rather be letting loose for Thanksgiving weekend than with friends, fans, and family right back where it all started back in 1989 when they emerged on the scene as one of the first bluegrass bands to add drums and tour rock & roll bars, helping Salmon become a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the jam grass genre.”
