From Qello Concerts
“Slightly Stoopid is lighting up Bob Weir’s Tri Studio with a handful of very special guests and we’re streaming it all LIVE for FREE on April 21st at 7pm PT/ 10pm ET.
That’s right, not only do you get Slightly Stoopid and the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, but also joining them is Karl Denson, Angelo Moore (Fishbone, Dr. Madd Vibe), Marlon Asher (Ganja Farmer), and Roger Rivas (Aggrolites).”
“While it s a rare commodity for a band to tour as consistently as Slightly Stoopid, the group s diligent commitment to live music provides some insight into their loyal fan base and unique creative metamorphosis throughout their existence. As Apparent by their latest studio album Meanwhile Back at the Lab the Ocean Beach, California-based group led by co-founders and multi-instrumentalists Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty has also found the same passionate dedication to their studio craft, holing up between tours in their own San Diego recording studio and record label complex. The balance of a prolific touring regimen between albums has helped to refine the tasty fusion and massive groove that permeates Stoopid s trademark sound and eight studio album catalogue, as well as their live shows.”

“Slightly Stoopid and Cloud 9 Adventures have announced the second edition of CLOSER TO THE SUN 2015, a tropical concert vacation held over four nights at an all-inclusive resort surrounded by a beautiful Mayan landscape. After blowing away fans with an amazing first year experience (view the 2014 recap video here), the event returns for a second year with a new round of artists to round out the bill. The 2015 lineup again features three performances by host band Slightly Stoopid, this time joined by SOJA, Iration, Pepper, and Ozomatli, playing two shows each. In addition, special guests G. Love, Don Carlos, Karl Denson, and Ian Neville will be featured throughout the event with exclusive sit-ins and collaborations. Main performances will be held on a stage built on the beach, while late night parties will be held in an open-air palapa.
Slightly Stoopid Miles Doughty said, “Closer to the sun is the ultimate pre-holiday get away for fans and the bands. From the beach to the cenotes and ruins, the Mayan Riviera is truly a special place. We wanted to create an intimate vibes holiday adventure for our fans that is different than any other fan experience. There is nothing better than being able to jam with your friends in paradise on the beach and share those experiences with a close group of fans and friends.”
More than a series of concerts, this intimate event brings fans and performers together on a luxurious vacation where the nights are filled with performances held on the beach stage just steps away from guests’ accommodations, while the days consist of artist-hosted activities, excursions, beach games, and poolside performances. The unique setting allows casual artist interaction, artist-hosted workshops, activities and contests, as well as an autograph signing and impromptu jam sessions.
Situated on pristine beaches and tropical grounds, the Now Sapphire Resort offers all-inclusive, luxurious accommodations with an intimate vibe. The resort features finely appointed guest suites, a world-class spa and fitness center, eclectic dining, and beachfront palapas, all within a short walk of your own private accommodations and the main stage. Located just north of fishing village Puerto Morelos and 25 minutes south of the Cancun Airport, the resort is conveniently located making it easy to explore the surrounding Mayan region from Cancun to Tulum. Off-site excursions to explore the beautiful Mayan region can be booked separately through the Closer to the Sun website CloserToTheSun.com.”
