Rumpke Mountain Boys Announce the Release of New Album ‘Trashgrass’ and Release Parties

From Rumpke Mountain Boys
“Energized from their stellar performances at some of the top music festivals in the east, including All Good, Terrapin Hill Music Festival, Appalachian Uprising, Shoefest, and their own festival, Snugglefest, Cincinnati, OH’s Rumpke Mountain Boys much anticipated sophomore album Trashgrass is set for release on November 2nd.
Described as “foot stompin, whiskey spillin, old timey, psychedelic party music”, the Rumpke Mountain Boys have taken the festival circuit by storm, garnering legions of faithful fans along the way with their signature brand of fiery bluegrass aptly named Trashgrass. Using banjo, mandolin, upright bass, and acoustic guitar, the Rumpke Mountain Boys have molded their own unique style and leave no genre of music untouched.
Named after Rumpke Landfill, the highest point in their home of Hamilton County, OH, their remarkable energy and passion shine through in their marathon live performances, their songwriting has won critical acclaim, and they’ve shared the stage with iconic artists such as Larry Keel, Leftover Salmon, Tim O’Brien, Ralph Stanley, Keller Williams, Yonder Mountain String Band and Del McCoury. According to Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, The Rumpke Mountain Boys are “high energy, hot licks, cool tunes – A party waiting to happen.”
Recorded live at a private party at Stonedbarry Hill, then carefully mixed over the past year at Soap Floats recording studio in Cincinnati (a la “Live Dead”), Trashgrass is the Rumpke Mountain Boy’s first release since the departure of bassist Travis Gates and addition of Memphis-bred upright bassist JD Westmoreland. Consisting of accomplished mandolin player Ben Gourley, Adam Copeland on acoustic guitar, Jason “Wolfie” Wolf on banjo, and Westmoreland on upright bass.
Rumpke’s sound is refreshingly unique, drawing on influences such as the Grateful Dead, Ralph Stanley, Tom Waits, and Jimmy Cliff. According to a review in Grateful Web, “while Rumpke Mountain Boys are known for their fun-filled live shows, the new release captures the Rumpke magic well, oozing with fiery banjo picking, amazing vocal harmonies, and impressive songwriting done by all four members. Trashgrass is organic, balanced, and most of all, FUN and their energy shines through on this release.”
The year 2012 has been quite a memorable year for Rumpke, winner of Cincinnati Entertainment Awards Best Bluegrass Band for the past 7 years running. After gaining traction over the winter, the Rumpke Mountain Boys became one of the most sought-after festival acts east of the Mississippi. The band performed at All Good Music Festival at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio in June, and drew a early 10:30 AM set that festival attendees raved about for months, drawing over 1,200 fans. They also host their own musical festival named Snugglefest, where this year Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, The New Old Calvary and others treated music fans to a picking fest to be remembered for ages.
The Rumpke Mountain Boys are headed a regional tour in support of the new album, and will be hosting a CD release parties in the weeks following the November 2nd release date at venues listed below. Pick up Trashgrass today and don’t miss the opportunity to catch them live to find out what all the buzz is about. And tell them Vince Herman sent you. New Album ~ ‘Contraption v.II’ by Beats Antique

FromBeats Antique

“Growing like wildfire under the canopy of live electronica and experimental world fusion music, the acclaimed musical trio Beats Antique launch their fall tour to finish out 2012 in support of their upcoming release,Contraption Vol. 2, a new cinematic, orchestral, and seductively bass heavy EP.
As the trio masterfully merges modern technology, live instrumentation, brass bands, string quartets, glitch, and dubstep, Beats Antique’s highly anticipated new album explores another octave of musings first begun in 2007 with Tribal Derivations. Five years, four albums and two EPs later, Contraption Vol. 2 – arrived this Fall 2012 – to round out the collection of over 80 songs released.
Beats Antique will inspire their fans with a raw, animalistic musical event that blurs the lines between the provocative, the spiritual, and the artistic while still maintaining allegiance to the muses of class, beauty. The tour, “Animale Mechanique”, will cover 35 locations in North America and end with a once-in-a lifetime show in front of The Pyramids in Egypt on the Winter Solstice.

Having already enchanted audiences at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Red Rocks and beyond, Beats Antique’s performances blend electro-acoustic breakbeats set to a Bollywood bass-circus stage show, with the sophistication of top hats receding to a sea of animal masks and wild feather headdresses. Their ability to create a balance between artist and audience even before the curtain rises creates a total escape both through live performance and the album experience that leaves critics and fans reeling alike.
Consider “Allure,” the opening track on Contraption Vol. 2 – you are instantly transplanted to an Art Nouveau Speakeasy. The truth in the music is told as the acoustic and electronic indulge in one another until they can’t be told apart. This is best observed after listening to the purely acoustic, Doo Wap inspired “Crooked Muse”, featuring the soulful voice and songwriting of long-time collaborator, LYNX .
The journey that led to Beats Antique was a winding and twisted path from the West Coast and eclectic underground of San Francisco’s performance art scene, to the ancient trade routes of the silk road. In this modern incarnation, the musical alliance of producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel is inspired and emphasized by their collaborative partnership with world-renowned belly dance performer and music producer Zoe Jakes.
David Satori studied at California Institute of the Arts and Tommy Cappel studied at Berklee School of Music before they ventured to locations such as Bali, West Africa, and Serbia. With extensive backgrounds in multicultural music production, and the passports to prove it, Satori and Cappel command the spectrum of live and digital instrumentation with skills born from Traditional Folk to Hip Hop and old school Jazz.
Zoe Jakes adds a third dimension as the diverse and disciplinary dance counterpart to Beats Antique’s sound. Jakes has worked with two major dance troupes, including Miles Copeland’s Bellydance Superstars and Rachel Brice’s Indigo Belly Dance Company, and is a student of ballet and contemporary techniques.
Beats Antique is best imagined as an innovative creature built from the cumulative heritage of the world’s music chasing its tail. However vivid that image, when a marching band groove crashes into bluesy folk chords only to be accompanied by glitchy electronic beats and Middle Eastern melodies, you’ll still be surprised and taken to a place you hadn’t previously known existed.”

From Papadosio
“Papadosio is proud to release their new album T.E.T.I.O.S. (To End the Illusion of Separation). The Album is an exciting double disc compilation recorded in their home studio outside of Asheville, North Carolina – of recent tracks they have been playing live as well as many unheard new songs and productions.

T.E.T.I.O.S. is also a collaboration among a vast community of visual artists the band has been working with over the years, and each track will feature a unique piece of art specially prepared for that song. This is the band’s most sonically diverse album to date, so be sure not to miss this masterpiece of an album performed live in a city near you this fall 2012.”
