Video ~ Lotus ‘Gilded Age’ Album Preview

From LotusVibes.com
“When Mark Twain coined the term “The Gilded Age” he was describing the Reconstruction Era’s thin veneer that masked substantial social struggle. Nostalgia is like the gilded age of memory. It’s easy for the mind to increase the former glory, the perfect sheen, the once timelessness of present-day ruins.

On this album we wanted to occupy that powerful place of the human mind, the mental eye that can see erosion and cracks and envision a palace. We focused primarily on simple organic instruments: drum, bass, guitar, piano, percussion, played live in a room. The overall mood is one of reflective happiness, the joy of the impermanent, nostalgia of halcyon days.
Album Releases July 22nd, 2014

Remixes from four superb down-tempo electronic producers take the nostalgia into deeper realms. The place where the brain starts reflecting on reflections and mixing together dreams and realities. Welcome to the Gilded Age.”

Free Download ~ ‘Hidden Shades’ by Pretty Lights

From PrettyLightsMusic.com
“The Hidden Shades will consist of two 10” records with a total of eight tracks. Side A&B consist of the last four unreleased tracks that I produced for A Color Map of the Sun that were not part of the physical or digital album. I love these tracks, and I’ve been anxious to get them out since ACMOTS came out. The samples were recorded during the same sessions and the songs were produced along with the other 16 already released tracks. The hauntingly beautiful “Lost and Found,” available for free download now, is among the unreleased tracks.”

Kung Fu Release New Album ‘Tsar Bomba’

From KungFu
Kung Fu has released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Tsar Bomba, featuring 12 original songs including fan favorites “Do The Right Thing,” “Hollywood Kisses,” and “Snaggle.” The band took their time on this album, recording it slowly over 18 months at Gold Coast studios and the result is a perfect example of their unique sonic contribution to the music scene. Blurring the lines between electro-jazz-fusion and ‘70s-style street fighter funk, Tsar Bomba captures the band’s musical prowess with a delightful sense of creativity and musicianship. The album showcases heavy-hitting guitar solos mixed with skilled saxophone interplay, mind melting electro-fused keyboards, a funky bass line and driving drums. Jimkata Release Latest EP ‘Feel In Light’

Jimkata has released, Feel in Light, a four-track EP recorded with producer Jocko Randall at his MoreSound Studios in Syracuse, who also produced the band’s last full-length album, 2012’s Die Digital. Feel In Light represents the continued evolution of Jimkata, exploring themes of love, triumph and appreciating second chances in life.

Jimkata’s refined electro-rock sound is one of a band that has found its voice after years of experimentation. It’s more indie rock than jam, and more electro-pop than EDM; yet the four-piece appeals to each of these audiences. In the spirit of LCD Soundsystem, MGMT and Talking Heads, Jimkata’s relevant, quotable lyrics create moods not just for fleeting moments, but for the lifestyle of an entire generation. In support of the new EP the band will continue on a national tour across the country and back.
