Shambhala Music Festival 2014 Announce Dates and Lineup: Bassnectar, Beats Antique, EOTO & More

Shambhala 2014

From ShambhalaMusicFestival.com
The 17th annual Shambhala Music Festival 2014 features its most powerful lineup to date including Bassnectar, Griz, Moby DJ, Skream, Beats Antique, Paper Diamond, Justin Martin, Phaeleh, Gorgon City and more—over 300 acts in all.

As one of the longest running electronic music festivals in North America, this internationally famed gathering has become an institution in both the festival world and that of electronic music. This year’s lineup also includes the sultry sounds of J. Phlip, Odesza, Christian Martin, EOTO, Lucent Dossier Experience, Opiuo, Hannah Wants, plus a slew of other industry leading, genre-defying producers.

Shambhala Music Festival returns to the wooded mountainous awe of the 500-acre Salmo River Ranch near Nelson, BC from August 6th-11th on their privately owned, immaculately artistic landscape (Google Maps). What has become one of the most beloved venues in the world, natural and man-made features collide to create a unique environment for infinite exploration including six individually curated stages with their own aural and visual schemas, swimming in the river, yoga sessions, and several surprise speakers.

The permanent and serene nature of the venue allows for its year-long development and perpetual growth instead of the typical build up, tear down festival model. This finely sculpted environment is set within the overarching perpetuation of community, connection and sustainability.

As an event which has had an invaluable impact on the progression of electronic music and festivals alike, the Shambhala Music Festival represents a point of departure from the typical understanding of creative communities. By upholding its intimate form, the gathering is able to deliver a uniquely curated window into the most transformative sounds and sights on the planet. Through a synthesis of expertly crafted sensory experience, the festival stands apart as veterans in what is now an internationally explosive scene.

Video ~ Head for the Hills – “Never Does” Official Music Video

From HeadForTheHillsMusic.com

From Telluride Bluegrass Festival to SxSW and all points beyond – Head for the Hills creates a sound based in bluegrass that reaches into indie rock, jazz, hip hop, world and folk to stitch together fresh songs that bridge the divide between past and future acoustic music. Bluegrass Today said they are “On top of modern string music.”
Head for the Hills is Adam Kinghorn (Guitar), Michael Chappell (Mandolin), Joe Lessard (Fiddle), and Matt Loewen (Bass). The quartet recently released their third studio album, Blue Ruin, of which CMT’s Edge said it “effortlessly matches integrity against innovation.” The album also charted in the CMJ Top 200.
Today, they are thrilled to announce the premier of their newest music video for the song “Never Does” from Blue Ruin. Written by Joe Lessard, “Never Does” is a driving pop infused song about love and loss. It is a pulsing, minor-key tale about a lack of fulfillment and closure told with a rapid-fire vocal delivery. Subtle audio effects and haunting background vocals add to the unceasing and urgent sense of anxiety within the track. They are also offering the song as a free download at: http://bit.ly/H4TH_NeverDoes.
Head for the Hills will also be on the road this summer beginning with an appearance at Pickin’ on the Poudre at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre on May 17th. The end of May brings them to Illinois for Summer Camp Music Festival, The Revival Festival in Minnesota, and the Campout for the Cause in Bond CO. They pick back up in mid-June with Vaudeville Mews (IA), Love Fest in the Midwest (NE), Fly Me to the Moon Saloon (in Telluride and featuring special guest Anders Beck from Greensky Bluegrass), and Clear Creek RapidGrass in Idaho Springs. In July they are set to play Camp Euforia (IA), Dawg Daze of Summer (MO), and a co-bill with The Steep Canyon Rangers at the Denver Botanic Gardens. August has them at the Mohawk Valley Music Fest (OR) and supporting Nickel Creek at the Festival at Sandpoint. They will also be at Yonder Mountain String Band’s Kinfolk celebration in Lyons this September and the Boats and Bluegrass Festival (MN). More tour dates will be announced as the season progresses, so please stay tuned to headforthehillsmusic.com.

Radiance Dome
Available during the entire festival day and night, the multi-media geodesic Radiance Dome, which debuted to great acclaim during the 2013 Burning Man Festival, will feature glowing panels designed to inspire creative expression by melding art and interactive technology.
Winner of the 2013 LuciteLux© Just Imagine Award, the Radiance Dome during the day will project geodesic structures and transparent panels that will resonate with nature in their elegant geometry, with the triangular panels and steel creating intriguing shadows and perspectives, highlighted by colorful discs illuminated by the sun. At night, the faces of the domes vividly glow with swirling mosaics of colors in response to their surroundings. A DJ will add sound to the play of light, creating a magical experience.

Designed by Light at Play, the Radiance Dome multi-media environment composes layers of light, perspective, and animation in a 40-foot interactive and immersive geodesic environment that responds to participants as they dance to the music.
“The Radiance dome is an illuminated structure controlled by an interactive software system designed to facilitate a closer relationship between music and movement,” said Kenyon Acton, Light at Play co-owner.
“The dome consists of 200 light trans missive acrylic panels, each individually controlled and illuminated by LEDs. Each panel contributes to a coordinated light show directed by the music, the movement of those within the dome, or through interacting with an iPad. It was conceived of and created for the 2013 Burning Man festival to provide a space for tango and blues dancing,” Acton said.
