Video: Umphrey’s McGee – Red Rocks & Blue II, Pay What You Want Bundle for Charity

From Groupees.net

“Umphrey’s McGee is launching the Red Rocks & Blue Bundle, a one of a kind Pay What You Want charity campaign featuring their 2 part documentary Red Rocks and Blue, available for the first time. Every dollar donated to the campaign feeds one meal to the hungry in association with the Feed Them With Music charity, and if our goals of 2,500 and 5,000 meals delivered are reached, all participants will receive unreleased rare tracks from UM. The highest donors will be rewarded with exciting prizes, like the chance to name a UM song and a rare autographed copy of the band’s long out of print debut. This 1-week only event is happening at Groupees, a new platform designed to transform the digital media download into a social event by way of unique exclusive deals on music, games, and video.”

About The Documentary
“This 26 minute two-part documentary is a visually stunning journey through the ins and outs of Umphrey’s McGee and the fabled Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Packed full of live performances, backstage antics, insightful interviews & gorgeous cinematography, this is a must have for the collection.”

Video ~ “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch – Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

From Amazon.com
“A lot of professors give talks titled “The Last Lecture.” Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can’t help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy?

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn’t have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave–“Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”–wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because “time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less than you think”). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living.

In this book, Randy Pausch has combined the humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon and given it an indelible form. It is a book that will be shared for generations to come. ‘We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.'” –Randy Pausch

Trailer ~ The New Mastersounds “Coals to Newcastle”

From FanManager
“England’s finest funk jazz band journeys from Leeds to the birthplace of funk, for 3 performances that coincide with the 2007 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Unsure about bringing sand to the beach (or “Coals to Newcastle” as they say in Britain), The New Mastersounds try bringing their brand of funk to New Orleans.

With sit-ins and commentary from several New Orleans master musicians, “Coals to Newcastle,” offers viewers a look into the lives of 5 Britons that have been influenced by a uniquely American art form, and a glimpse at the city that started it all as it struggles to retain its culture after Katrina’s devastation.

The band leader, Eddie Roberts, says, “This is some of the most accurate portrayal of our band we have ever seen… It’s a gesture of the filmmakers, Aaron Dunsay and Marca Hagenstad, to be able to capture our passion for what we do and the challenges we as musicians have with balancing our personal and professional lives. The raw aspect to the filming really highlights our enthusiasm that we get off playing to American live audiences.””

Video: New Album “Death By Stereo: The Trailer” by Umphrey’s McGee

From Amazon.com

“Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee returns this fall with a new studio album, Death By Stereo, available on 9/13 via ATO Records. Over the past 13 years, the group has built a rabid fan base through endless touring and more than 120 shows a year. They have released 11 albums, nearly every live show for 6+ years and sold more than 1.5 million digital tracks. Death By Stereo is the much-anticipated followup album to their critically-acclaimed 2009 studio release Mantis, which was praised in top outlets like Rolling Stone, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Mantis included a groundbreaking pre-order campaign, which sold over 8000 units in the first week and debuted at #62 on the Billboard chart.”

“Death By Stereo is a hybrid of what makes Umphrey’s McGee so appealing to a wide spectrum of music fans. Filled with a healthy combination of focused, hard-hitting rock songs & head bobbing, groove-driven tracks, the record has something for everybody. The new album features a smattering of road-tested fan favorites as well as some of the slickest, unreleased compositions the band has released to date.”

“Umphrey’s McGee’s constantly evolving sound channels a wide spectrum of influences while still preselVing their distinct voice through crafty songwriting. With a massive repertoire of originals and note-perlect covers, their live shows are like flipping through the presets on your radio dial. Their A.DD. approach to ”progressive improvisation” utilizes a set of Zappa-inspired hand signals allowing them to orchestrate their melodic creations on the fly. ”
