Video: Lightning In A Bottle 2015 – Anything is Possible

From Lightning In A Bottle

“The Official 2015 Lightning in a Bottle Video, entitled Anything is Possible, shows us the impossible wonder that is LIB. Featuring music from performers Flume and the Ambassadeurs, this year’s video focuses on core tenants of Lightning in a Bottle: nature, growth and freedom of self-expression.”

“Director Russell Ward says, “With layers of creative expression artfully stacked on a base of positive intentions–capturing LIB’s essence is no easy task. The hard work of many artists came together in this piece.””

“As the West Coast’s premiere boutique festival, the tenth annual Lightning in a Bottle returns Memorial Day Weekend (May 21 – 25, 2015) to the San Antonio Recreation Area in Bradley, CA, featuring a lineup that includes Flume, SBTRKT, Panda Bear, Odesza, RL Grime, Thomas Jack, Tycho, GRiZ, John Digweed, Panda Bear, Lucent Dossier Experience, and speakers Neale Donald Walsch, Dennis McKenna, and Pema Khandro Rinpoche. They’ll be joined by over 300 more musicians and artists spread across three main stages, two yoga tents, and the Temple of Consciousness, delivering a transformational experience of a lifetime.””

Mike Gordon June Tour 2015 Dates Announced

Mike Gordon June Tour 2015

From Mike-Gordon.com
“Mike Gordon returns to the road with his band on the heels of last year’s exhilarating tour supporting Overstep. The Mike Gordon June Tour 2015 will begin down south in Charleston, SC and will include stops in St. Louis, Chicago, Philly, Albany, Buffalo, New Haven and more. Mike will perform as part of the Lowell Summer Music Series just outside of Boston and will return to the famed Egg in Albany.

A limited number of tickets are available NOW via a real-time presale at tickets.mike-gordon.com which ends Thursday, April 9 at 5PM ET. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Friday, April 10.
The band will make a few debuts along the way including The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, Paper Mill Island in Syracuse and a Father’s Day show at the Academy of Music in Northampton. The band’s repertoire will be augmented by hints of synesthetic mad scientist gadgetry on and around the stage.

Wired Magazine came out to a show on Mike’s March tour last year to experience and talk about the new visual, audio and interactive tech-ification that will be a part of this June run. Mike will be bringing along his band – Scott Murawski (guitar), Craig Myers (percussion), Robert Walter (keyboards) and John Kimock (drums).

“I like the idea of breaking down boundaries,” Gordon says. Of the theatrics and curiosities onstage on the Overstep tour, the centerpiece is an interactive piano-like instrument spanning the lip of the stage. At certain points during the show, touch-sensitive panels illuminate; by tapping on them, audience members trigger sounds and jam with the band as it plays. That’s just one piece of the big wacky puzzle. To experience it for yourself, catch one of the shows on this tour.”

Phish Release Reynolds Coliseum 12.16.99

Phish - 12.16.99

From Phish.com
“On 12/16/99 near the end of the road to Big Cypress, Phish played their only show at Reynolds Coliseum, a World War II era basketball arena on the NCSU campus with a concert capacity of about 14,000. Highlights from Set I included Chalk Dust Torture, Limb By Limb, Roggae and Possum. Set II featured some deep-space millennial exploration during Sand and Wading In The Velvet Sea > Tweezer > Runaway Jim. This show showcased the subtlety of communication and breadth of improvisation for which Phish was, by this time, world-renowned.

12/16/99 was recorded by Paul Languedoc to digital multitrack, mixed/mastered by Jon Altschiller. To download the show or to listen via the LivePhish App, visit http://livephi.sh/ph991216.”

Southern Grown Festival 2015 with The Avett Brothers

Southern Grown 2015

From SouthernGrown.com
“Sea Island Resort in Georgia is bringing together the best music and food south of the Mason-Dixon for the inaugural Southern Grown Festival 2015, taking place June 19th-21st. The three-day festival, filled with brunches, barbeque and bourbon, pays homage to the distinctive culture of America’s South at one of the finest grand dame resorts of the region. Southern Grown will feature a weekend full of events and classes led by more than a dozen award-winning chefs and artisans from Louisiana to Kentucky, and will culminate with an oceanfront performance by North Carolina folk-rock band The Avett Brothers.

The Southern Grown festivities kick off on Friday evening with a “Big Fish” Fry, featuring an appearance by Big Fish author Daniel Wallace, live music from South Carolina jam band Sol Driven Train and a late night speakeasy experience with hand-crafted cocktails created by Tom Bulleit of Bulleit Bourbon. On Saturday, festivalgoers can participate in an array of classes and lectures, including a “Pole to Plate” class taught by two patriarchs of the Southern food movement, Mike Lata (Charleston’s FIG) and John Currence (Oxford’s City Grocery); a “Curds and Whey” session with cheesemongers Jessica and Jeremy Little of Georgia’s Sweet Grass Dairy; and an “Up in Smoke” tutorial celebrating barbeque, one of the South’s most honored traditions, with pit masters Harrison Sapp and Griffin Bufkin of Georgia’s Southern Soul Barbeque.

The highlight of the Southern Grown weekend occurs on Saturday evening, when the Grammy-nominated band The Avett Brothers takes the stage for an oceanfront performance on the lawn of The Lodge at Sea Island. As the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean, guests will be serenaded by the band’s folk rock sounds while sampling selections from the carnival-style “culinary village,” emulating some of the world’s biggest music fairs. Additional music will be announced as the event draws nearer.

“Southern Grown truly reflects Sea Island’s rich history of gracious hospitality and memorable experiences,” said Scott Steilen, President of Sea Island. “Sea Island embraces its many long-standing traditions and we are thrilled to continue building thoughtful new traditions rooted in our rich culture.”
Southern Grown welcomes locals and travelers alike to experience the region’s wildly impressive food and music culture. Festival tickets are now available for sale and prices range from $65 (general admission concert tickets) to $1,450 (“All Access” passes for two). For additional information on the Southern Grown weekend or to make reservations, please visit www.southerngrown.com or call 1-800-SEA-ISLAND.”
