Video ~ Announcing Umphrey’s McGee “Reel To Real” [1.1.16]

Umphrey's McGee - Reel to Real 2015

From Umphreys.com
“Umphrey’s McGee cordially invites you to join us for the debut of Reel To Real on the inaugural evening of 2016. This one-of-a-kind benefit kicks off with a hair of the dog happy hour with Team UM. After libations & sustenance, you’ll take your seats for the premiere of a Nothing Too Fancy Music retrospective. Comprised of unseen footage from the camcorder archives, join us as we take you on a visual journey into the early touring years of the band.

Upon conclusion of the ‘Reel’, we’ll pivot to the ‘Real’ and journey into the songs that have accompanied us through the years. The format will be a set of original music, with commentary on the history and circumstances surrounding the writing, recording and evolution of a slew of UM tunes.

In addition to the film and performance, the night will feature an open bar, theatre treats, raffle, and more. Partnering with our friends at Conscious Alliance, we will be raising money to feed those most in need, all while sending you home with a limited edition UM+CA event poster.

Reel to Real tickets go on sale Thursday, October 1st at Noon MT.”

It just goes.”

Donna the Buffalo is a band for the people that is accessible, positive, and memorable. With roots in old time fiddle music that evolved into a soulful electric American mix infused with elements of cajun/ zydeco, rock, folk, reggae, and country.

“For the dizzying array of styles and genres with which they work, Donna The Buffalo maintain a surprising level of consistency… over the course of their 25-year career, they retain a sharp focus that has helped them create some truly lasting music…” writes Elmore. “Few groups are this comfortable as performers, and even fewer would take as many risks.”

Both the band and the audience start the show with a clean slate to help co-create a dynamic musical experience, with Butler receiving ideas from the audience to help set the course of action.

Butler’s unique style of conducting is groundbreaking in that he, as EO’s founder, has essentially created an entirely new way to perform and experience music. Butler says, “Playing with different musicians, improvising every night, and getting the crowd involved in ways that they can’t be at a regular show has provided an unparalleled live music experience.””
