FromNedFest.com “Nederland, Colorado is a town like no other. Tucked in the Rocky Mountains just west of Boulder, Nederland has a history rich in mining and music. With unique shops, amazing outdoor beauty, friendly locals, and vibrant music scene, Nederland is definitely not your average small town. For those lucky enough to live in Nederland, life is rich and varied and full of character, just like the town itself.
The town was established in 1885 near the Continental Divide in the mountains of southwest Boulder County. Nederland started as a trading post between Ute Indians and European settlers during the 1850s. Its first economic boom came when gold, silver, and tungsten ore were discovered near the rich mines of Caribou, in 1859 and near Eldora in 1875. Today it is better known as a gateway to outdoor recreation in the nearby Indian Peaks Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest, and the recently established James Peak Wilderness.
Nederland is located 15 miles southwest of Boulder, CO, 38 miles south of Estes Park, CO and 50 miles northwest of Denver. Also located nearby is the former home of the legendary Caribou Ranch recording studio where artists like The Beach Boys, Chicago, Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, Robert Plant, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Stephen Stills, U2 and Frank Zappa spent time and recorded some of popular music’s most legendary albums and singles between 1972 and 1985. Artists like Stephen Still and Dan Fogelberg not only recorded here, but had homes in the area as well.

FromKung Fu “Connecticut’s nu-funk stars, Kung Fu, are back in the studio working on their sophomore release, due out this winter. In anticipation, the band has released a video of “Do the Right Thing”, which is expected to be included on the record. “We are super excited for this album,” says keyboardist Todd Stoops. “We’re really evolving as a unit. When we recorded the debut album the group had only been together for a year but now we have this level of comfort and growth that’s evident in the music. I’m fortunate enough to play with some of the baddest men in the business and we’re trying to update and redefine the ‘fusion’ movement…or at least our movement!””
