It’s a very exciting project on a remarkable chunk of land. My intention is to bring the local art community together in a way that unifies us all creatively while blowing people’s minds,” said Andrew Carroll.

Camp Barefoot 8 Announce Kickstarter Campaign

From Kickstarter
“Camp Barefoot is a 3 day live music event featuring national, regional and local music acts. It also hosts creative Artists including live painters, clever Artisans offering handmade crafts and collectibles, and of course festival style food that pleases even the pickiest of palates. Camp Barefoot guests can enjoy primitive style camping in the gorgeous mountains of West Virginia, all the while jamming to their favorite tunes of independent music.

We have hosted some top notch acts at Camp Barefoot including Lotus, Ghostland Observatory, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Keller Williams, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Dumpstaphunk, EOTO, The Motet, Tea Leaf Green and many others. (Visit campbarefoot.org for the full line up.) We want to continue to bring your favorite bands, but can only do it with your help. Your support will also help us improve our selection of other popular national bands that we couldn’t otherwise afford. We also enjoy giving local and regional acts the exposure they deserve. They want to share their craft with you, and we create a platform to do that. We feel that Camp Barefoot is a huge family reunion. It brings the entire clan together once a year, after a long hiatus of not seeing each other. It’s your Camp Barefoot, we just make it happen!

You might be thinking, so what’s the problem? Why can’t you just keep Camp Barefoot going the same way as in the past? Festivals the size of Camp Barefoot have been titled a dying breed. Unfortunately, this is almost always due to fund availability. It’s easy to overlook the costs associated with festival production while seeing and enjoying the final product. We wish that we were millionaires and could put on such an extravagant affair just for fun! While we do it just for fun, the truth is all our funds come from local sponsors, ticket sales and our own money from our regular jobs.

Where does the money go, you may ask? It seems in the festival world, everyone has their hands out, and the producers of small festivals generally don’t make a dime, (in our case we have lost over a million dimes). The money goes to Land Rental, Electricity, Portable Toilets, Staging, Security, Sound, Lighting, Electric Generators, Rental Production & Music Equipment, etc, and of course the Musical Acts you are there to see! The list goes on and on, and the prices each year go up and up. We are always trying to add amenities to improve and/or create better experiences for our guests, which are all added costs. A smaller festival such as ourselves can’t keep up with the growing bills. At some point producers have to make a decision. Do we continue on and go further in the hole, or do we call it quits? After 7 years of struggling it has become decision making time. We don’t want to stop Camp Barefoot, so we are trying one final effort keep it afloat.

There is no better time to ensure that this festival will happen again, and be the best one yet, all the while scoring some great stuff and even tickets to the event! Most of the rewards for your pledges such as the on-stage perks and private shows will NOT be for sale to the general public! Keep in mind, the way Kickstarter works is, we have to reach our goal in order to receive any of the funds, otherwise, all monies will be returned to the donators and we will receive nothing. The great thing about that is there is no risk to you. If we don’t reach our goal, you aren’t out any dough! If we do reach our goal, you can look forward to the best year yet of Camp Barefoot, plain and simple. Act now, before it is too late, and we are extinct along with the Camp Barefoot Experiences you are yet to have!”
